Application questions

Candidates are asked to answer three questions relating to leadership capabilities.

Please read each question carefully, and in each case give an example of how you have demonstrated that capability. The examples might be from work, academic, family or social life. A full description of each leadership capability, along with descriptions of supporting competencies and behaviours, is in the 'Leadership capabilities' section.

We recommend that candidates read all the questions before beginning to complete any. This will help plan the answers effectively. When preparing responses, pay close attention to the questions that are asked. Candidates should try to select examples that allow them to provide evidence of all the required behaviours. If possible, use a different example for each question. Poor examples may limit the extent to which candidate can demonstrate their strengths. Be concise: there is a limit of 1,500 words for each answer, so try not to go into unnecessary detail. Give examples of things you actually did and how you did them. It is important that your examples clearly demonstrate your personal involvement in each situation. Focus on describing the situation and your own specific actions in it.  Â
