Information for those with disabilities

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is a Disability Confident Employer. This means that we welcome and support candidates with a disability. If you require reasonable adjustments during the application period, please contact. We are committed to ensure that our application process is as inclusive and supportive as possible. The team is available to facilitate a confidential conversation and implement required adjustments to enhance the accessibility of the application experience.

In case of reasonable adjustments required due to disability, the candidate must submit a letter or a document from a medical professional confirming their exam-related requirements. It is important to provide this evidence prior to any assessments taking place.

Any information shared will be used to arrange necessary reasonable adjustments. It will be treated confidentially and will not be viewed by the selection panel.

The Equality Act 2010 defines disability as a 'physical or mental impairment that has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on a person’s ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities.

Examples of impairments include mobility issues, neurodiverse conditions, being deaf or hard of hearing, experiencing visual impairments or sight loss, having long-term health conditions, or enduring long-term mental health issues.

As part of our commitment to inclusivity, we have established a Guaranteed Interview Scheme (GIS). If an applicant has a disability and meets the minimum criteria outlined in the Person Specification, they will receive a guaranteed interview. For Management Training Scheme candidates, this means an invitation to participate in the interactive assessment centre. Those applicants who have a disability and wish to be considered under the GIS scheme, please contact.
